"Minecraft: Pocket Edition" is still trying to catch up to the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the popular sandbox title. New lead developer Jens Bergensten revealed Tuesday some of what is coming to building game for iOS and Android tablets and smartphones.
New blocks for "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" will be in the next update including different kinds of quartz, stone and sandstone blocks. Bergensten is also working on adding slabs but admits that they may be harder to move around with "fat thumbs."
For those wondering if caves will ever make their way into "Minecraft: Pocket Edition", Bergensten said that they cause a "huge FPS drop" so they won't be added right now.
One additional feature that users may notice in the slideshow above is the addition of clouds in the sky. Those will be available in the next update, 0.5.1, along with signs and possibly armor as well.
No release date has been announced for the 0.5.1 update for "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" but the wait typically isn't long once Mojang begins tweeting out pictures.
