4J Studios, the developer behind the Xbox 360 port of Minecraft, confirmed Wednesday that it is handling the upcoming Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita versions of the immensely popular open-world sandbox game.
This seemingly confirms that the features currently seen in Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will carry over to at least the the PS3 and PS Vita including the upcoming TU12 enhancements that add support for texture packs and "Mash-up Packs" that give the game a whole new look.
So far, the Xbox One version of the game is confirmed to support larger worlds that will likely match what the PC is capable of performing thanks to the 8 GB of memory in the console which means the PS4 will as well. "Expanded multiplayer features" were promised as well but it is currently unknown what that means other than perhaps support for more people in a world together.
Also missing from all the announcements is a release date. Minecraft for the PS4 will launch alongside the console on Nov. 15 but it is unknown if the PS3 and PS Vita versions will arrive at the same time, earlier or later.
