The 37-year-old singer's brother reported her death earlier today. Apparently she died from a self-inflicted gunshot. Reporter Andrea Canning says she "got a call from Mindy McCready's best friend that she shot and killed herself this evening. My heart breaks for her two boys. RIP”

McCready's boyfriend, producer David Wilson, died last year from what was initially ruled a suicide, but authorities say the case remains open. Some people were suspicious, and felt McCready may have shot her boyfriend, but the singer insisted she had no involvement, saying: "He was my soul-mate."

McCready, who recorded five studio albums throughout her career, had two young boys. Sources say she had been struggling with alcohol and mental health issues in recent months, and had even checked herself into an inpatient rehab facility two weeks ago after Wilson passed away.
