Mindy Kaling and Elle magazine responded to the controversy surrounding her magazine cover. The fashion magazine was slammed for hiding her race and her full figure, according to a report by The Wrap on Jan. 7.

Critics said that Elle magazine was deliberately trying to white wash Kaling's figure and face on the cover. Elle's Women in Television covers were released yesterday. The magazine featured covers of Zooey Deschanel, Amy Poehler, and Allison Williams.

Kaling was the only one out of the group that was in black and white and was cropped to just her head and chest. The others were in full body, full color shots. Jezebel called it "institutionalized inequality".

Kaling and Elle spoke out about the controversy today. The star of "The Mindy Project" tweeted, "I love my @ELLEmagazine cover. It made me feel glamorous & cool. And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on thirteen dates with me." [SIC]

Elle responded to Mindy's kind words. They said, "Mindy looks sexy, beautiful and chic. We think it is a striking and sophisticated cover and are thrilled to celebrate her in our Women in TV Issue." They also added on their site today that they were pleased with the actress' response.

That's settled for now. But fans are still not pleased with how the actress was featured on the cover. What do you think of Mindy Kaling's Elle magazine cover?
