Miley Cyrus' lesbian kiss causes controversy (video)

Miley Cyrus in lesbian kiss on 'Britain's Got Talent'

Miley Cyrus has received a lot of negative attention lately because of her new and slightly raunchy look, but she took her image a step further when she pretended to kiss another girl during her televised performance on 'Britain’s Got Talent'.

Miley Cyrus performed her new single, “Can’t Be Tamed” and half way through the song, she leans over to make out with one of her back up dancers.

“I’m just at a certain place where I’ve changed a lot as a person,” Cyrus said on her website when talking about her new image. “I’ve grown up a lot, which everyone does.” 17 year old Miley is currently at the age where she's starting to transition from a teen idol to an adult. As can be seen with other previous Disney teen stars like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera, it isn’t always an easy transition.

Miley’s same-sex kiss isn’t the first time she’s been in the news regarding gay issues. Last year, she wrote about her support of same-sex marriage on Twitter. Her comments on equal rights resulted in tons of hate mail, ultimately leading to her shutting down her Twitter account.

So what do you think about the same-sex kiss? Is it a sign of Miley growing up? Is it a publicity stunt? Is she just following in the footsteps of stars before her like Madonna, Britney, and Christina? Watch the video and tell us what you think in the comments section below.

It was not a real kiss and she did it on her DWTS performance as well!

Comments above . . . I have no problem with a kiss. But what difference does it make if its real or not. Its the allusion she makes to her millions of pubescent DISNEY fans. Adam Lambert appealed to a different crowd, and wasn't a babysitter. To millions of parents thats what Miley has been for 10 years. May not seem fair, but true. I understand her need to shed her image, but why so in your face?

All HM and Disney aside, even the adults with this art bad image at least have some class or do it in a funnier way. It's just not
good (no matter what your past is)and makes her look so art and attention getter desperate.

Who decided that she should be a singer?

She wouldn't be good enough to win Britain's Got Talent.

That wasn't even a real kiss and I think we need something better to talk about. Why did this even make headlines. Come on.

I don't think the kiss(?) was a big deal. What I do think is a big deal is the parents who think of this person as a role model/babysitter for their pre-teen daughters. I think there is nothing she would not do for the almighty dollar and this is not the kind of role model I want for my child.

with her dad on her side there's a collaboration there. if she doesn't create controversy she'll fade into nothingness because obviously this kid can not sing. i watched just the video without a sound and she can't even dance, she's stiff and awkward. with a lot of talented performers out there she has to keep baring her body to at least stay for i don't know how long. soon peiple will realize shae has nothing, made a movie and can't act. she'll be a good comedian though, seriously. go on miley, bare it, bare it all or you'll be out.

I was not a kiss, it was a dance move, and I'd hardly call that a make-out! Get over it and move on...Miley is a teen struggling with her image. Hannah Montana will still babysit your kids while you put them on ignore.

i give props to miley, lesbians ,gay community has it hard these days and its hard for young teens to come out out and be who they feel is right. society has made it hard to come out. we are trying to move forward and not be teased and bullied because we are different. Teens are killing themselves because they feel its wrong so why not get support from someone they can admire? Miley isn't a baby anymore and has moved away from disney and stands by her feelings and it doesnt mean she is gay but it will make it easier for others to accept that not everyone one is the same and we need to stand together and stop the bullying. look at poor Demi she was teased so much it broke her down. Miley go girl for showing the world its okay to be who you are!! one last thing even though it wasn't real it was hot...and yes i am a female supporter.hang in there miley and demi one person can make a difference.

Growing up? How on Earth is going in a raunchy direction and kissing people of the same sex growing up? I don't see how people link sex with growing up. There is very little maturity in the way sex is being treated by these stars. There are plenty of ways to "grow up" without having to go onstage barly covered while kissing a backup dancer. That is nothing to do with music and is just trying to get attention though shock and controversy. There are plenty of deep and adult topics that don't have to do with sex (identity, time, REAL love, human nature). I'm sick of idea that an image without sex is childish; maturity is so much more than that, and such an idea is in fact immature.
