Mila Kunis, who recently lost 20 pounds for her role as a ballerina in Black Swan, says looks aren't that important to her because beauty doesn't last forever.
"Looks go; they fade. I don’t think looks matter,” Kunis, 27, tells the February 2011 issue of Cosmopolitan.
Of course, when you're as naturally beautiful and sexy as Mila is, it's easy to make such statements. But Kunis understands firsthand that beauty doesn't solve everything.
'I WAS BLIND IN ONE EYE UNTIL RECENTLY'
While Kunis is known for her stunning green eyes, ironically, she was blind in one eye until recently due to a retinal condition called chronic iritis, an inflammation of the iris.
"I was blind in one eye for many years, and nobody knew," Mila recounts. As a result of her longtime struggle with iritis, Kunis suffered blurred vision, developed a cataract and her eyes became different colors.
Fortunately, she got surgery to correct the problem a few months ago, and is well now.
"I was blind," she says. "I'm not blind anymore. I had surgery a couple of months ago. They cut it open and dropped a new lens in there."
Meanwhile, Kunis, who was nominated for a Golden Globe award for Black Swan, is a regular on magazines' "Most Beautiful" and "Sexiest Woman" lists.
'I LIKE CONFIDENT, NOT COCKY, GUYS'
Mila, who recently broke up with actor Macaulay Culkin after dating for 8 years, prefers a strong personality and good manners to six-pack abs and movie-star looks.
“[I prefer] confidence, not cockiness," Kunis says. “Knowing who you are is confidence. Cockiness is knowing who you are and pushing it down everyone’s throat. Looks go; they fade. I don’t think looks matter.”
Mila also likes romance and good manners in a man.
"I love flowers, although flowers on my birthday aren't romantic. Do gentlemanly things like open the door for me while writing me a song and taking control in the bedroom."
So who does Kunis think is the best kisser of all her co-stars that she has done love scenes with? [They include Natalie Portman, Justin Timberlake, James Franco, Jason Segel and Ashton Kutcher].
"[I like] Justin's upper lip," says Mila. "Natalie's bottom lip... Ashton's stubble... James's chin... and Jason's teeth."
But Kunis refuses to comment when asked about her love life.
"Never have, never will," she says. "The reason I'm able to have a relationship is because I don't talk about it."
