Numerous videos of people playing Halo 4 began cropping up on YouTube Thursday along with Xbox LIVE profiles showing these playing the campaign. Microsoft informed us Friday that it is investigating the reports.
“We have seen the reports of Halo 4 content being propped on the Web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation," a Microsoft Spokesperson told us in a statement. We contacted the company for comment Thursday after we noticed the leaks appear on Reddit and NeoGAF.
Beyond that, not much is known about how these Xbox LIVE users managed to get their hands on what looks like either physical copies of the game or pirated copies off the internet. The Xbox LIVE profiles that we have seen playing Halo 4 appear to be located in Mexico or Spain.
This unfortunately is a common theme with Halo during this generation of consoles. Halo: Reach was leaked as was Halo 3. Either way, we strongly suggest you keep your eyes open (or shut) to avoid possible spoilers while browsing forums, Reddit or YouTube.
