Mick Jagger signs with CAA for solo, film projects; SuperHeavy album details

Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger is gearing up to revamp his solo career by switching agencies for his solo and film projects. According to Variety:

Mick Jagger and his production company, Jagged Films, have inked with CAA, which will represent the Rolling Stones frontman's solo music projects in addition to his films.

Jagger comes over from ICM, which had repped Jagger's movie ventures only. He's stayed busy in the film world, including acting credits in "Bent," "The Man From Elysian Fields" and "Enigma," which he also produced.

Jagged Films currently has "The Long Play" in development for HBO, which Terence Winter will pen and Martin Scorsese will direct; and "Tiny Problems of White People," to which Jagger and Colin Firth are attached to star.

In May 2011, Jagger spent time hobnobbing with members of the movie industry. On May 9, he attended the London premiere of "Fire in Babylon." On May 14, he and his longtime girlfriend L'Wren Scott were in Cannes, France, at the third annual Finch's Quarterly Review Filmmakers Dinner, which was held in honor of Oscar-winning British film producer Jeremy Thomas. Thomas won an Academy Award for producing 1987's "The Last Emperor."

As previously reported, Jagger's latest solo project in music is a group called SuperHeavy that he has formed with Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Damian Marley and Oscar-winning songwriter/composer A.R. Rahman, who is best known for the music of "Slumdog Millionaire."

Although a release date and title have not yet been announced for SuperHeavy's debut album, Stewart said in a June 2011 interview with Dutch magazine Muziek that the band recorded 30 songs, and 16 have been selected for the album. Stewart commented in the interview: "We are currently working on the mixing. Producing Super Heavy was really crazy. So many different personalities, so many different voices. I was right in the firing line."

With the SuperHeavy album possibly being released before the end of 2011, it raises questions about whether or not the group will tour. Jagger's switch to CAA (which books acts for live performances) seems to indicate that he may planning to do concerts with SuperHeavy.

In related news about SuperHeavy, group member Stone was apparently the target of a plot to rob and murder her. On June 13, 2011, police arrested two British men in their 30s who were in possession of swords, rope, a body bag and a mapped layout of Stone's home in Cullompton, England. According to the Associated Press, Stone released a statement saying that she was "absolutely fine and getting on with life as normal."

As for the Rolling Stones, they have released multiple statements that the Rolling Stones have no immediate plans to tour. In February 2011, the band publicly revealed that it had parted ways with longtime concert promoter Michael Cohl after the end of the Rolling Stones' 2005-2007 world tour for "A Bigger Bang." Cohl had worked with the band since the Rolling Stones' 1989-1990 tour for "Steel Wheels."
