Michael Vick remains the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles vs. New Orleans Saints Monday night game (November 5). According to a report early Tuesday morning (October 30) from ESPN, Vick hasn't been benched for the Week 9 game. This is despite a lot of NFL rumors suggesting that Eagles coach Andy Reid might go in a different direction after the Eagles lost again.
For fantasy football owners still relying on Vick, this is extremely fortunate news. Going up against the Saints in Week 9, it almost guarantees that he will be able to put up good numbers. Whether the Eagles can stop Drew Brees and the high-flying Saints offense is a completely different question though.
There is certainly still a lot of time before the Eagles vs. Saints game gets played, so rookie quarterback Nick Foles could still get a promotion. It's a situation that fantasy owners have to pay close attention to, especially because Reid has made that second personnel changes in the past. While it looks like Vick is a safe start for Week 9, stranger things have happened.
If Michael Vick is the starting quarterback heading into Week 9, he is a must-start option in all fantasy football formats. He has a great chance at approaching 300 yards passing and possibly as much as 50 yards rushing if he can find some gaps. Add in a couple of touchdowns and Vick is staring down possibly his best fantasy numbers of the season.
