Michael Muhney ‘Y&R’ firing: Did he rebuff Hunter King’s advances?

Michael Muhney was abruptly fired from “The Young and the Restless” and his final day of taping took place in mid-December. Michael Muhney's final episode as Adam Newman will air at the end of January.

Reports have surfaced that Michael Muhney was fired from “The Young and the Restless” for groping his 20-year-old co-star’s breasts on two separate occasions. As the more sources come forward regarding Muhney’s dismissal, fans who were outraged by Michael Muhney's firing have begun to ask questions, wondering what really happened.

Rumors have surfaced that Hunter King, the actress who portrays Summer Newman on “The Young and the Restless”, made romantic advances toward the married father of three and was rebuffed. An angry King then proceeded to create a story, telling CBS executives that Muhney had made unwanted and inappropriate advances toward her.

Fans point out that there have been rumors that Muhney’s would be fired since the spring of 2013 when Muhney and co-star Eric Braeden engaged in a Twitter battle. There are also reports that Muhney was difficult to work with and that his behavior on the set of “Veronica Mars” was less than appropriate. But a source says that Muhney, who is a member of MENSA, is not difficult, he is an actor with integrity who fights for depth to his storylines and refuses to play a “cartoon villain character”.

It has been rumored that "The Young and the Restless" executive producer Jill Farren Phelps plays favorites and when actors do not "toe the line" she finds a reason to have them fired. In the wake of Michael Muhney's firing many fans are wondering which "Y&R" veterans may be next on Phelps hit list.

As “The Young and the Restless” and CBS Daytime do not comment on casting or contract negotiations, it is unlikely that an official statement will be made by either. Unless Michael Muhney or Hunter King step forward to defend themselves it is unlikely that fans will ever have the whole truth.
