Come April 23, for the second year in a row, multi-platform concert series “Music City Roots: Live From The Loveless Café” will partner with MerleFest to present a special kickoff event prior to the North Carolina MerleFest event.
Beginning at 7 p.m. that day, Nashville’s “coolest show” will devote an evening to some of the talent appearing at the 27th annual festival, according to a March 25 correspondence shared with Examiner.com.
"MerleFest is basically Music City Roots wrapped up into one weekend festival, so this is a natural partnership,” said Music City Roots’ Associate Producer Ashlee-Jean Trott. “We are so excited to work with MerleFest's team and artists once again this year!"
As for the MerleFest-themed Music City Roots show's confirmed performers, thus far the lineup includes Town Mountain, Sierra Hull (performing at MerleFest with Alan Jackson), Roy Book Binder and Josh Farrow, along with a surprise special guest. Fans may attend the show live in Nashville at the Loveless Café Barn, listen live on Hippie Radio 94.5 FM Nashville or watch the livestream at www.MusicCityRoots.com. Tickets for the April 23 show are available at this website.
“Music City Roots is known for offering a great lineup of eclectic music for their audiences, and MerleFest is celebrated for the terrific collection of ‘traditional plus’ artists who perform over the four days of the festival,”added Steve Johnson, artists relations manager for MerleFest. “So the pairing of Music City Roots and MerleFest to bring a ‘MerleFest sampler’ to the Loveless Barn as a kick off to the festival just makes sense. We’re excited to again be working with MCR for this special show!”
The 2014 MerleFest, will be presented by Lowe’s and slated for April 24-27, 2014. The festival is an annual homecoming of musicians and music fans that takes place on the campus of Wilkes Community College, 1328 S. Collegiate Drive, in Wilkesboro, N.C.

More about MerleFest
MerleFest, considered one of the premier music festivals in the country, is an annual homecoming of musicians and music fans held on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, N.C.
Founded in 1988 in memory of the late Eddy Merle Watson, son of the late American music legend Doc Watson, MerleFest is a celebration of "traditional plus" music, a unique mix of music based on the traditional, roots-oriented sounds of the Appalachian region, including bluegrass and old-time music, and expanded to include Americana, country, blues, rock and many other styles.
Each year, the festival serves as host for more than 130 artists, performing on 13 stages, during the course of the four-day event. The annual festival has become the primary fundraiser for the WCC Endowment Corporation, funding scholarships, capital projects and other educational needs.
