"We haven't been able to get a hold of the retailer just yet. We're trying to make that notification. But we do know it was a manual pick, so someone chose those numbers, said a Maryland lottery official."

The March 18, 2014 Mega Millions winning numbers are 11, 19, 24, 33, 51, the Mega Ball is 7, and the Megaplier is X 3. The $400 million Mega Millions jackpot was the third-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history, and the sixth-largest lottery prize in U.S. history, with a lump-sum option of $224 million.

The Washington Post on March 19 reported, "the two winners will split the $400 million jackpot so they’ll each get about $200 million. In Maryland, the winnings are $112.4 million as the cash option. That would net about $77.4 million after taxes, Maryland lottery officials said."

How much do Florida and Maryland Mega Millions jackpot lottery winners pay for state and federal taxes? The two Mega Millions jackpot winners will split the $400 million lottery jackpot, so already the jackpot is cut in half. Good news for the Florida Mega Millions lottery winner though as there's no state income tax in Florida! The Florida Mega Millions winner will only be subject to 25 percent federal taxes. Unfortunately, Maryland residents pay one of the highest state taxes, at 9.25 percent. Add to that the 25 percent federal taxes due, and the Maryland Mega Millions winner will end up with a lot less than the Florida Mega Millions winner.

Additionally, there were eight (8) Match 5 + 0 winners in Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing. There were two $1 million Mega Millions winners in Florida and New York, and one each in Illinois, Maryland and Texas. The California lottery winner will receive $1,962,339 due to pari-mutuel prize rules. Each lottery winner matched five out of six white Mega Millions winning numbers, but not the gold Mega Ball number for the second-tier prize.
