Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch or MM8BDM to the development community, recently launched its latest free update, featuring new content from Mega Man 8.

MM8BDM is a mod that allows players to get into the Mega Man universe with a first-person perspective, something the original games never did. The mod preserves the classic pixelated-look but adds in controls appropriate to the first-person shooter genre. MM8BDM comes with both a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode full of various game modes and customizations.

With nearly a year between releases, back in October, the development team behind this Mega Man mod announced that the newest version, featuring Mega Man 8 elements, would release shortly. After some last minute tweaking that lasted almost two months, Version 3 of MM8BDM released last Friday.

Version 3 features new maps, weapons, and skins found in the original Mega Man 8. This adds in with the previous versions which included content from Mega Man 1-7, and now Mega Man 8. Future versions are planned to include content from Mega Man 9 and 10, though no release dates have been announced.

As well as the new content from Mega Man 8, Version 3 comes with a number of tweaks and weapon balances, all of which can be read in the official MM8BDM forums.
