On Wednesday, the far left wing Media Matters took a break from bashing Fox News to give what the Daily Caller called a "slobbering electronic kiss" to Al-Jazeera for its unbalanced coverage of global warming.
"During its first day on the air, Al Jazeera America gave climate change nearly half as much coverage as network news programs did during the year 2012, all while avoiding common pitfalls like providing false balance to those that deny the science and leaving the crisis' manmade origins ambiguous," Max Greenberg wrote.
According to Greenberg, Al-Jazeera -- a network that is owned by the Qatari government -- gave 30 minutes, or about 24 minutes not counting commercials, to the subject, which he said was far more than other networks.
Most significant, Greenberg noted enthusiastically, is the fact that Al-Jazeera did not offer a contrary point of view on the subject.
"Perhaps most significantly, Inside Story explored public opinion on climate science, and even presented differing views on climate policy, without once offering marginal contrarian viewpoints as a 'counterbalance,'" Greenberg gushed.
"Al Jazeera America left no doubt that the phenomenon it was referring to is man-made," he added, leaving no doubt where the network stands.
"Bottom line," Greenberg said, "this was a great start."
Jamie Weinstein said this wasn't the first time Media Matters praised the network, "whose Arabic channel’s top show features a Holocaust-praising imam."
Weinstein said that according to the Daily Caller's sources, Al-Jazeera director-general Wadah Khanfar "met with Media Matters’ top two officials, David Brock and Eric Burns, at the organization’s Washington office in 2010."
Promoting man-made global warming without providing balance is not the only thing Al-Jazeera did on its opening day in America.
Examiner.com's Steven H. Ahle said the network also aired a false video of a man allegedly dying from a gunshot wound.
"The footage showed a man lying on his back, with his shirt covered with blood, as a woman kneeled over him screeching. Then a doctor lifted his shirt to inspect the wound, but there was none," Ahle reported.
The Blaze also reported that within its first five minutes on the air, Al-Jazeera took "subtle shots at conservative hosts including Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and, yes, Glenn Beck."
The segment aired by Al-Jazeera also showed Sen. John McCain praising the network, Sharona Schwartz reported.
