Paul McCartney fans reported Oct. 13 that some stores are jumping the gun and selling “NEW” before the release date. One person who bought it was Steve Wilson, who posted on our Facebook page today, “I just got Paul's 'NEW' CD full 15 track CD … the deluxe edition for a cool $12.99. Fourteen tracks with the 15th hidden track 'Scared.'” His review” “The album ROCKS!! Maybe one weak track, but that is it. Great album. Sir Paul, congratulations!”
A LITTLE 'STRUGGLE': Paul McCartney fans who want to get everything he owns will have a bit of a “Struggle” with "NEW." His track "Struggle" will only be released on the Japanese version of “NEW.” A short preview of "Struggle" available from Japanese iTunes finds a possible reason why the track is available on such a limited basis. It's much more experimental than anything on "NEW." The track, which clocks at 4:49, belongs more on his Fireman “Electric Arguments” album than a Paul McCartney album.
BUSY WEEK: Paul McCartney will continue his rollout of his “NEW” album with several events over the next couple of days. Beginning today and running through Tuesday, Clear Channel will feature Paul McCartney on its outdoor billboards in a campaign for his “NEW” album. Monday, iHeartRadio.com and Yahoo will broadcast "The iHeartRadio Album Release Party with Paul McCartney: A Q&A and Performance."
On Tuesday, he'll appear for the premiere segment of online “The Living Room Tour” by audio manufacturer Bang & Olufsen. Fan can submit questions for the event through Twitter.
And on Wednesday, he'll appear on the BBC's "6 Music Live at Maida Vale" on BBC Radio 2. A McCartney spokesman said more TV appearances could happen. McCartney will appear on the BBC's “The Graham Norton Show” in October, reported Digital Spy. The show is aired on BBC America, but the schedule doesn't show if or when that show will air in the U.S.
McCartney guitarist Rusty Anderson tweeted Sunday, “Between BBC Radio 2 and Graham Norton, it's gonna be a fun week!”
ANOTHER INTERVIEW: The UK Guardian has one of the latest of new interviews Paul McCartney has been doing for "NEW." He talks about "Scared," a very emotional song on "NEW," and says, "I was newly in love with Nancy, and I was finding it a little difficult to say, 'I love you.' Number one, I'm a guy, and that's a big excuse, I know, but it is a bit true to form… That song is basically about she and I, and the middle eight is about when we met. And we did exactly as I say in the song, we welled up."
UK CONTEST: Paul McCartney's Twitter account announced Oct. 13 he was giving away tickets to his two BBC appearances for fans in the UK (or those with access to a Concorde flight to the UK). “We have 10 pairs of tickets to see Paul perform on @BBC6Music and 10 pairs of tickets to see him play for @BBCRadio2 both on Wednesday. To win the tickets answer the following question (please keep in mind that you & your friend will have to get to London for the show!). Question: Name the four producers who worked on Paul's 'NEW' album. @PaulMcCartney with your answers. Winners announced tomorrow (Monday)."
