Paul McCartney gets some unusual requests from the fans who display signs during his shows, but one at his July 5 Out There! concert at Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y., was one to remember. He helped a couple with their marriage proposal, which ended up taking place on stage, both Ray Paul and Patti Murawski, who each attended the show, told Beatles Examiner.

Ray Paul says the couple were called up on stage near the end of the show by McCartney. “It turned out they were from my hometown of Rochester, NY.,” he said. “She was holding a sign that read, 'He won't marry me until he meets you.' So Paul McCartney called them up, he proposed and she accepted.”

According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, which posted a video of the proposal online, John Dann got down on one knee and sang “When I'm 64” to his fianceé Claudia. McCartney reportedly joined in. Patti Murawski said McCartney gave the couple hugs and high fives after she accepted his proposal.

Paul said Paul McCartney looked and sounded great during the show. “McCartney looked very well and voice sounded great,” he said. “He even was spot on on songs like 'Blackbird,' 'Here Today' and 'Let It Be.'” Murawski agreed. “He sounded great. He looks well and full of energy.”

The tour moves to Pittsburgh Monday for a a concert at Consol Energy Center. On Wednesday, the Out There! tour stops in Chicago at United Center. Tickets for U.S. shows available here and here.

McCartney's website announced July 3 it is holding a competition to give away a pair of tickets to each upcoming U.S. show. Winners will be picked at random and notified by email. They will have 24 hours to claim the tickets. (Thanks to Ray Paul, Patti Murawski, Jennie Swenton Barb Potter and Kristinn Taylor for concert reports and pictures.)
