Mayor de Blasio admits his administration blew East Side snow removal

"Botched," "bungled," "flubbed" "plowgate," "mistakes" and "shambles" are some of the ways the media referred to New York City Mayor de Blasio's administration's poor snow removal efforts in the city's the well-to-do East Side.

Wednesday morning, de Blasio was in denial mode and told a press conference at EMS Station 32 in Brooklyn that the residents of the East Side accusing him of political payback were wrong:

"They're just mistaken. No one was treated differently. We believe in a five-borough approach in everything we do."

Later, after visiting the East Side, de Blasio admitted they blew it:

"After inspecting the area and listening to concerns from residents earlier today, I determined more could have been done to serve the Upper East Side. I have instructed the Commissioner of the Department of Sanitation to double down on cleanup efforts on the Upper East Side, and as a result, 30 vehicles and nearly 40 sanitation workers have been deployed to the area to finish the cleanup. Our crews will remain on the streets around the clock until the roadways are clear in every neighborhood, in every borough, across New York City."

Good for Mayor de Blasio. Maybe he learned a lesson about good governance or maybe he realized that political bullying doesn't work.
