An amazing YouTube video has begun circulating again (from 2007) that captures Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) in another "spontaneous utterance", during a House committee hearing wherein she asked an oil company executive (paraphrase)
... 'If we let you drill where you want to, what guarantee can you give this 'liberal' that the price of gas will go down?'
His answer, (paraphrase)
... 'I can guarantee the American people, that due to the inaction of the United States Congress, they will experience a continuing rise in gas prices at the pump, such that $5 per gallon will seem like a good price, compared to the level to which it could rise without producing new sources of [domestic] oil.'
Her [curt] reply was:
"Then, this 'liberal will be all about 'socialize' [sic]...er, ah ... basically, ... about the government taking over and running your companies!"
The video showed that as she completes her last sentence, the congressman to her [camera] left, leaned back out of the frame (looking behind her to his left-presumably at other shocked committee members, and almost simultaneously, the congresswoman to his [camera] left, was holding her hand over her mouth-with it wide open, in a look of disbelief.
This is exactly what Fidel Castro did in Cuba in 1959, and look how that turned out for them.
Then, on January 30, 2007, the National Assembly ("congress") of Venezuela passed a "Nationalization Decree", which allowed President Hugo Chavez to execute "law-decrees" at his own will, in part, to nationalize [foreign] oil company assets, to rapidly advance the country on the path to "21st century socialism".
The American people are perceptive enough to pick up on this type of message ... the governmental threat of socialism.
The American people are also perceptive enough to pick up on President Barak Obama's continued incitement of "class warfare" ... against, big oil, big banks, big insurance, auto companies, in favor of "populace", labor unions and big government--the paradigmn of socialism.
However, the proof of the failure of socialism (core of the liberal ideology) is right here in the United States.
Rep. Waters' home state of California, the largest state in the union, with the much vaunted largest economy and supposedly the "brightest stars" in the country, is virtually bankrupt--and stands as the clearest symbol of the failure of the "liberal [socialism] ideology" in the United States.
Rep. Waters is a [self-proclaimed] "liberal", as are a majority of the legislators at every level in California, which has become the "victim" of its out-of-control entitlement programs, forced upon it through the votes of its mostly liberal citizenry--resulting in these self-inflicted wounds, for which they are solely responsible.
In fact, California's bond rating is so low that was forced to borrow $5.4 billion from "private investors", just three weeks ago, to cash flow the remainder of their budget year, and not "short-change healthcare and education in the state."
As a summary, Rep. Waters earned a Social Work degree from CSU-LA and has been a government employee for 38 years--beginning as Chief Deputy for an L.A. City Councilman in 1973, followed by a stint in the California State Assembly from 1976 until 1991, when she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where she continues to sit today.
It is a true "Audacity of Hope" that U.S. Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA), who has absolutely no private sector business credentials whatsoever, to publicly threaten the CEO of an international oil company with a government take-over, especially when the only "operating entitiy" that she has had a major hand in running over the past 38 years, has gone from being the "garden spot of innovation and prosperity" to the next act in the play..."The Fall of Greece".
Second only to, but in collection with, President Barak Obama (D-IL), Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA), is the embodiment of how America has fallen into total dis-repair, and along with most other members of the Democrat party, are the reason that there can be no "bi-partisan solution" to cure our country of its ills--because they are them.
