Electronic Arts may be planning to release a "Mass Effect" product on the PS4 and Xbox One. According to a report from Playstation Universe on Aug. 20, Amazon is listing that a new installment from the series is heading to the next-generation consoles. The retailer did not provide any other details aside from the platforms.

One of the possibilities could be a remastered port of "Mass Effect Trilogy." Bioware recently showed some interests in porting the first three mainline games of the series on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms. Other publishers have already did something similar by releasing titles that were created in the previous generation. The remastered ports so far include "Tomb Raider Definitive Edition" and "The Last of us Remastered." A list of upcoming ports also featured "GTA 5," "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" and "Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition."

In the potential release of the "Mass Effect Trilogy" for the two new consoles, Bioware could fix some of the technical issues that plagued the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Furthermore, the DLC packs from the previous games may also be included. By introduction or reintroducing the series to PS4 and Xbox One players, the development team could also establish a strong following for the next installment of the series.

The listing may also be meant for the tentatively-titled, "Mass Effect 4." Bioware has been talking more about the potential sequel recently, confirming several changes (like the Mako vehicle) along with some returning elements (such as Krogans and other species being brought back). The new title is being built on the Frostbite 3 game engine, which is compatible with the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as the aforementioned PS4 and Xbox One.

Amazon did not reveal a release date time frame for the mysterious "Mass Effect" game. Bioware did previously confirmed that "Mass Effect 4" is currently in the middle of the development cycle.
