It has been a banner week for Buzz Williams and the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Having received signed national letters of intent from a trio of 2014 recruits (Sandy Cohen, Ahmed Hill and Marial Shayok) since the onset of the early signing period on Wednesday, the blue and gold received a John Hancock on Friday from Satchel Pierce, a 7’0”, 260-pound center hailing from Akron, Ohio.

Pierce, currently playing at Kiski School in Saltsburg, Penn., chose the Golden Eagles over the likes of Pittsburgh and Miami despite having not taken an official campus visit.

With the impending departures over center Chris Otule and forward Davante Gardner after the 2013-14 campaign, the arrival of Pierce, the 34th-ranked center in the Class of 2014 by ESPN.com, will provide some needed depth in the MU frontcourt.

Following the signing of Pierce, Malek Harris, a 6’7” forward from Oakland Park, Ill., stands as the lone 2014 commit yet to sign with Marquette, although, per jsonline.com, he is expected to do so in April.
