‘Mario Kart 8’ releasing on May 30 for Wii U, new characters detailed

Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart 8 will be racing its way to the Nintendo Wii U in just a few short months. According to a press release issued by Nintendo of America from Feb. 13, Mario Kart 8 will see release on May 30 in North America. Furthermore, seven all-new characters have been revealed for Mario Kart 8.

During the latest Nintendo Direct video broadcast, it was announced that the Koopalings will be playable characters in Mario Kart 8.

With Iggy, Larry, Lemmy, Ludwig, Morton, Roy and Wendy all making an appearance, the roster of Mario Kart 8 certainly has one of the most diverse character lineups ever offered in a Mario Kart title. Find additional details on the Koopalings below:

For the first time ever in any game, all of Bowser’s seven Koopalings are playable characters. Players with a taste for being bad can get ready to challenge gravity on the race track with Iggy, Larry, Lemmy, Ludwig, Morton, Roy and Wendy. The game launches in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on May 30.

Mario Kart 8 is the first home console Mario Kart game to be release by Nintendo since Mario Kart Wii was released in 2008.
