In a new interview with ABC News, Mariah Carey reveals that she has increased security around her after a threat by Nicki Minaj left her fearing for her life.
Sitting down with Barbara Walters to also promote the premiere of “American Idol,” Mariah Carey talks about why she felt increasing her security was the right thing to do.
"It felt like an unsafe work environment,” Carey told Barbara Walters. "Anytime anybody's reeling threats at somebody, you know, it's not appropriate."
Mariah then maintained that she’s a “professional” and that she’s not “used to that type of environment."
After the exit of both Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler last year, “American Idol” turned heads when they landed Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey as judges. Both stars are at the top of their game in rap and R&B music respectively, but their backstage bickering has gotten the public’s attention over the past few months.
In what was widely reported months ago, Nicki Minaj is alleged to have said that "if I had a gun, I would shoot that *****." Minaj is said to have been referring to Mariah Carey.
Whether we will see the ramifications of Mariah’s fear of Nicki Minaj on FOX’s broadcast is uncertain. It’s quite possible the show will be edited in a fashion that shows the two judges getting along quite well.
