It's almost about that time again. Celebrating craft beer made by our friends and neighbors right here in and around Sweet Home Chicago!
For those who don't already know....our local tap takeover events are a blast! There will be plenty of food, live music, great people and plenty of Chicago's finest ales and lagers to satisfy anyone's palate!
This best part is what makes this event so special. We'll have a dozen or more local beers on tap from just as many different breweries, almost all of which are usually in attendance. We definitely want to encourage everyone to feel free to mingle, introduce yourself, ask questions or even simply say "Hey" to the person that made that beer you might be enjoying. Maybe you don't like the beer. Talk to the brewers about it and maybe they'll be able to tell you about another style of beer you should try instead. Just don't be like, "Dude, your beer sucks!" because 1) it doesn't suck, you do & 2) nobody likes jerks, but constructive criticism is always welcome!

Meet the team behind Temperance Beer Co. and enjoy one (or all) of their four delicious beers on tap at Andersonville Brewing & Hamburger Mary's! Tap takeovers are:
Smittytown ESB (5.8% ABV): An unreal Extra Special Bitter brewed with refined English malts then bastardized with brazen American hops for celebrating a neighborhood that doesn’t exist.
Restless Years Rye Pale Ale (5.8% ABV): This crisp pale ale spices things up with rye in the mash. Dry-hopping lends a refreshing tropical aroma. The unexpected spicy finish lingers like a favorite memory. It will turn your restless nights to restless years.
Gatecrasher English IPA (6.6% ABV): You get into the sold-out show without a ticket. You don’t have to shout for people to listen. Our IPA may be late to the party, but it will be closing the place down. You’ll remember Gatecrasher for its flavor, not bitterness.
Freedive India Black Ale (6.0% ABV): Days shorten and cold permeates everything, but the darkest time of the year also offers its treasures. Take Freedive, our India Black Ale. Freedive’s midnight color and roasty malt character belie its piney hop aroma, creating an unexpected combination. Freedive is a beer for winter, and like the snow and solitude, it will be gone before you realize.

8:00 - 9:10 pm ♦ The Earliest Known Photo of Men Drinking Beer
The Neo-Futurists, 5153 N. Ashland Ave., Chicago (773) 275-5255
IMMORTAL ART & BEER! A Drinking & Writing Production at The Neo-Futurists! In The Earliest Known Photo of Men Drinking Beer, a farce gone awry, a troupe of actors repeatedly attempt to reenact the historical photograph entitled Edinburgh Ale. The photograph, taken circa 1843 in Edinburgh, Scotland by pioneers in photography Robert Adamson and David Octavius Hill, features Scotsmen Dr. George Bell, writer James Ballantine, and Hill himself, drinking beer. The play asks the question, "How will you be remembered?" and deals with the attempt by artists to immortalize their works (including the playwright himself) and the hypocrisy of the photograph (Dr. George Bell, known for his social reform in Scotland, who is holding a glass of beer in his hand in the photograph, was a proponent of prohibiting alcohol from the poor).
