Microsoft’s Xbox 360 continues to dominate the sales charts in North America. According to the NPD on April 18, the Xbox 360 home console sold an impressive 261,000 units during the month of March. This sales mark places Microsoft’s machine as the top selling home console in North America for the 27th consecutive month.
In addition to the top selling home console, the Xbox 360 also saw strong software sales during March as six of the Top 10 selling games were on Xbox 360. These titles include: “Tomb Raider,” “Gears of War Judgment,” “Bioshock Infinite,” “NBA 2K13,” and “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.”
With sales of the Xbox 360 continuing to be hot, Microsoft certainly has a stronghold on the video game market in North America. It’ll be interesting to see if Microsoft can ride this success of the Xbox 360 until the launch of their next-generation home console, codenamed Durango or more commonly referred to as Xbox 720.

Entertainment experiences on Xbox LIVE continue to grow as Xbox introduced its newest app this week, Flixster. And, Xbox Tournaments with Virgin Gaming launched earlier this month exclusively on Xbox LIVE, bringing gamers free-to-enter gaming tournaments for popular games including “EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13,” “NBA 2K13,” “EA SPORTS™ Madden NFL 13” and “EA SPORTS™ NHL® 13,” with many more titles to come.
