"A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present, and the hope and promise of the future"-Author unknown
Lexi and Dana Klebanow are two sisters who embrace that sentiment with zest and fervor.
These loving daughters have banned together to join a national movement to bring awareness to a disease that is not very well known but affects millions of woman and is often hereditary.
This disease is triple negative breast cancer.
Their mother Carol Eilbott Klebanow is currently battling metastatic triple negative breast cancer.
All breast cancer is not the same. Triple negative breast cancer accounts for about 10 to 20 percent of all breast cancers, and is often more aggressive than other forms of the disease. Unlike other breast cancers, triple negative breast cancers lack three specific receptors, and as a result generally do not respond to existing targeted therapies commonly used to treat breast cancer.
The Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation sponsors research to find the targeted therapy that will change the course of this disease forever.
On February 28th, 2013 Mani-for-a-Cure will host a spa themed cocktail party to support the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
This event is designed to support the first annual Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day on 3/3/13 and will be one of dozens of events held by supporters across the country to raise awareness of triple negative disease and funds for research.
Helen Keller once said "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much".
These sisters have joined together with others across the nation to make the inaugural Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day a success.
“We are excited about using Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day as a creative way to draw national attention to triple negative breast cancer. Mani-for-a-cure is the first event of its kind to bring together professionals in New York for this cause with an evening of spa services. We hope our efforts will contribute to a growing national awareness so that a targeted treatment can be developed for our mom who has battled triple negative breast cancer for over 7 years.” – Alexa & Dana Klebanow, Mani-for-a-cure Event Chairs
