Actress/singer Mandy Moore has always wanted to shave her head and join the ranks of co-celebrities who have chopped their locks, according to a recent report out of TV Guide on Saturday. Rocking a short hairstyle is freeing, however, when the impulse for a cropped look fades, growing it out can be a cumbersome feat.
In an interview with People at the launch of Emily + Meritt for PB Teen, a new endeavor from her stylists’ Emily Current and Meritt Elliot, the 29-year-old Mandy Moore confessed she has always had a desire to cut her hair very short.
I’ve always wanted to really cut my hair, like, super, super short. I did once. I’ve always thought about shaving my head too. That’s always intrigued me. I kind of feel that way a lot, but I don’t necessarily act upon it all the time. Baby steps I guess.
Short hair is freeing, reduces styling time and uses less hair care products, however frequent trims are required to maintain the hair cut. If Mandy Moore decided on a very short hairstyle, or even a shave of the head, she would join the ranks of Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Kellie Pickler, Beyoncé and Rosario Dawson, among others. Growing out short hairstyles has the possibility of becoming a daunting task, which requires more maintenance and haircuts than one would think.
For Beyoncé and Rihanna, added extensions helped with that process. Short pigtails have been the modus operandi for Miley Cyrus. Her celebrity hairstylist recently revealed his strategy for growing out her very cropped look. After Kellie Pickler shaved her head to support her best friend with breast cancer, the country singer has used a gradual approach for regaining her length.
The key to growing out short hair is to create a plan with your professional hairstylist that suits your needs for optimal hair care. Frequent trims are necessary to have beautiful, long and healthy hair.
