Man saved when bullets strike bible instead of his heart

If not for his Bible, Rickey Wagoner, 49, a Dayton, Ohio bus driver wouldn’t be alive to tell his story. According to CNN, after Wagoner’s transit bus broke down on Monday, three teenagers accosted him and fired three point-blank range shots at him, and then stabbed him in the arm. Two bullets struck Wagoner in the chest and a third bullet hit him in the leg. Fortunately, Wagoner kept a Bible in his front pocket, which stopped the two bullets from striking him in the heart. Dayton police officer Sgt. Michael Pauley told WHIO:

"There was obviously some kind of intervention involved in this incident, because he probably should not be here."

Based on attacker comments, Wagoner told authorities the attackers may have been a gang initiation. Dayton police couldn’t confirm this. Wagoner received care for the bullet wound in his leg at the hospital. He should recover and didn’t suffer any life threatening injuries. Authorities are searching for the three suspects.
