Man facing felony charge for killing girlfriend's dog in act of vengeance

According to Tuesday's Mt. Airy News, a man in Mount Airy, N.C., is behind bars, facing a felony charge of animal cruelty, for allegedly killing his girlfriend's small dog.

Late Sunday, a Chihuahua was killed in what is being described as a "senseless act of vengeance," by 35-year-old Michael Edgar Wright, who allegedly lashed out at the dog after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.

The dog died from injuries sustained from being beaten and thrown.

Wright was arrested and taken to the Surry County Jail - he faces a felony animal cruelty charge as well as a charge for disorderly conduct. Wright is currently scheduled to appear on court on May 8.
