On Aug. 23 2013, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a 9-year-old girl was almost killed after being brutally beaten in a Florida Best Buy bathroom, according to USA Today.
James Patrick Tadros, 29, was arrested for the horrific attack.
Authorities said Tadros lured the child into the women’s bathroom of the electronics store Friday night where he punched her, kicked her, put a plastic bag over her head, and held her down in the toilet, reports USA Today.
According to the report, the girl was rescued when a customer heard her screams and entered the bathroom to help stop the assault.
First Coast News reports that the girl was only out of her mother’s sight for a minute before having contact with Tadros.
Authorities said Tadros and the girl did not know one another and the attack was an isolated incident.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jay Farhat told First Coast News that if the attack would have gone on much longer, it would “have been a much worse outcome.”
She is currently being treated at a local hospital.
