Malaysia Airlines plane: Americans identified in flight MH370 lost at sea

Three Americans have been identified in a Malaysia Airlines plane that mysteriously disappeared Saturday morning.

The manifest lists ABC News reports March 8 that the U.S. citizens on the manifest list are Philip Wood, 51; Nicolechd Meng, 4; and Yan Zhang, 2. Originally the airline reported an infant from the U.S. was on board the plane.

Flight MH370 is believed to be lost at sea. A 12-mile oil slick was discovered by two Vietnamese military aircraft along the Gulf of Thailand.

The Malaysian plane departed Kuala Lumpur for Beijing Saturday at 12:55 a.m. local time. It was scheduled to arrive in Beijing at 6:30 a.m. Two hours later, flight MH370 was lost from radar communication.

As for the pilot of the Malaysia Airlines plane, Capt. Zaharie Ahmad Shah, 53, had logged in 18,365 hours of flying since joining the airline in 1981. First Officer Fariq Hamid, 27, and had around 2,800 flight hours since 2007.
