Liberal Democrats have to their advantage a compliant media that will do its bidding to minimize their incompetence or bad judgment and by doing so turn around and ostracize their adversaries for bringing it up. A scandal is not an entity with a life of its own, it takes a news service-and in this case a plethora of services-to probe and report.
Far too often the mainstream press are incurious when it comes to getting to the bottom of things gone horribly wrong with Democrats and instead switch the focus on the “GOP” or “Tea Party” for their perceived “reckless” inquiry or “over playing their cards.”
And so it comes as no surprise that the Associated Press will report a story on the Obamacare debacle with this headline: GOP hopes 'Obamacare' woes have staying power. Certainly a cynical liberal would say such a thing, however the AP writers under the cloak of objectivity, share that same cynicism then turn around and morph it into hard news.
Isn’t it far more accurate to say the GOP sincerely believes that Obamacare’s attempt to take over an entire industry is a lost cause and that its destructiveness is a foregone conclusion? To say that they “hope” its “woes” have staying power is to suggest they aren’t quite sure of the principles they believe nor confident that the history of government’s practice of delivering goods and services has always been nothing but an abject failure every single time.
The article sets the stage of what will become of mainstream reporting on Obamacare in the first sentence:
For nearly five years, Republicans have struggled to make a scandal stick to President Barack Obama's White House. One by one, the controversies — with shorthand names such as Solyndra, Benghazi, and Fast and Furious — hit a fever pitch, then faded away.
Solyndra, Benghazi and Fast and Furious all have in common the earmarks of horrible decision making with two of the three resulting in a lose of life. Not only do we not know who made the decisions in each but no one seems to be asking, namely the AP, CBS, ABC, CNN, NBC. And since they are not asking ipso facto the issues “fade away”.
The scandals did not “stick” (gee, I wonder why?) says the AP as though they literally have a life of their own floating in space like pollen in the spring and attaching itself into the sinuses of news organizations until they sneeze and drip with news every day until something is done.
In the meantime it was the GOP who are making too much out of nothing. “Manufactured” all of it. Listening on the phone calls of none other than the AP journalist and their families? Harassing political opponents specifically the Tea Party with the IRS asking who gives them money and what are their political leanings? Spying on foreign leaders, allies even, while pitching the line that we are restoring our relationship with other countries because Bush ruined things. It’s all about the GOP making noise trying to garner political advantage but like all scandals, the AP assures us they never seem to “stick”.
So as Obamacare slowly becomes law, failures and false promises such as getting to keep your own insurance, layoffs, enormous premiums and who knows what else; we can expect the media to give cover and by so doing vindicate liberals charge of the obstructionist GOP who are making things worse. This is why Obamacare, no matter how feckless and disastrous, will never be a failure.
