EA Sports unveiled the CoachGlass feature Tuesday for Madden NFL 25 on the Xbox One and its SmartGlass application for tablets and smartphone. If you are wondering why the PS4 and its companion app isn't mentioned, there's a reason for that.
CoachGlass for Madden NFL 25 is exclusive to the Xbox One and acts like a defensive coordinator with features that go much deeper than the infamous "Ask Madden" option from the football sim. At its most basic level, the app analyzes the personnel grouping selected by the offensive player and suggests three defensive plays to counter and highlight the offense's biggest threat.
However, you have the option to take things deeper by having the app display the play calling tendencies of your opponent. Players will see a breakdown not only of run versus pass in certain situations but also information on if the player likes to throw short left, deep middle or run wide right on 2nd and 6, for example.
It also keeps track of the last 64 plays in a game and lets players know the situation, defensive play call, offensive play call and success rates. This lets the defender make their play selection based on tendencies in the opponent's play-calling and know what worked and didn't work defensively in the past.
Madden NFL 25 is due out on Nov. 19 for the Xbox One. The PS4 version will launch on Nov. 12.
