Kathie Glass, in her bid to become the 2014 gubernatorial candidate for the Texas Libertarian Party, will be making three pit stops in two days in North Texas.
Friday, February 7, her campaign will host a Meet & Greet in Grapevine beginning at 7 PM at the Residence Inn by Marriott.
Saturday, February 8, has Glass dashing from one event in Lake Worth to a Waxahachie engagement in Ellis County, 56 miles and one hour away.
The Lake Worth appearance is a speaking opportunity for Glass during the Let's Roll Texas Fort Worth Town Hall Meeting.
The Waxahachie stop is described as a multi-candidate forum hosted by the Ellis County Tea Party featuring candidate speeches.
All three events will serve as venues for Glass to present her "Plan for Texas Independence."
A January press release made it clear that her Plan for Texas Independence does not include secession but is designed to "withstand the unsustainable path that Washington DC is on and its inevitable collapse."
Still, her plan appears to stop just short of secession. After a November trip to East Texas the Palestine Herald-Press reported, "Glass said she is willing to [cut] ties with the federal government" and "Glass predicted an imminent financial crisis and insisted that Texas should become financially independent of the federal government."
Glass mentioned her Independence Plan in passing at the Houston Liberty Forum with Ben Swan in January but didn't elaborate on it.
A Texas Tribune article from October quoted Glass as saying her campaign "would focus on the idea of nullification."
“I want to make nullification a household-known concept,” Glass said at the time. "This is our way out of this federal overreach."
While her Kathie Glass for Texas Governor website contains a "Five Point Lone Star Plan" that includes nullification her Facebook page only offers a teaser, "If you're a libertarian and you're a proponent of Texas independence you'll want to find out what Kathie Glass has say about the subject."
All three North Texas events offer the opportunity to find out more about her "Plan for Texas Independence."
