Hawaii plane crash: Loretta Fuddy's death ignites birther conspiracy theories

Loretta Fuddy, 65, the director of the Hawaii Department of Health who released a copy of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate two years ago, died in a plane crash off the Hawaiian island of Holakai on Thursday, according to a Reuters report on Thursday. She was the only one of nine people on board a single-engine plane who died. The pilot of the Cessna 208 Caravan and seven others survived with a host of injuries, according to Darin McCracken who is a United States Coast Guard search and rescue controller.

Shortly after the crash which was reportedly due to engine failure, the ‘birther’ conspiracy theorists began weaving their theories – which is typical when a new shred of a story is added to a story already engulfed in conspiracy theories.

As one may well-recall, when Fuddy verified President Obama’s birth certificate and Obama released the long form of the document, there were many naysayers who said the document was phony. They still insisted that Obama was born in Kenya and that he was not qualified to be president because of his birth place. They also have gone after his unreleased academic documents which they believe he requested foreign aid which, of course, is not for domestic students.

No doubt, ‘birthers’ have come out again with the death of Fuddy. The conspiracy is that Obama played some role in her death because she knew too much. For one, Donald Trump – the most famous of the ‘birthers’ - hit Twitter by messaging: “How amazing, the State Health Director who verified copies of Obama’s ‘birth certificate’ died in plane crash today. All others lived.”
