But that friend is the chief of police. Chief Wayne Nutt of Log Cabin, Texas on Cedar Creek Lake has had his eye on Macky ‘Mack’ for a couple of years now.
Macky ‘Mack’ has spent his entire life on a short chain. A few days ago, Chief Nutt got a call about animal cruelty involving Macky ‘Mack’. Officer Nutt has been to the residence several times, but this time, for animal cruelty. Macky ‘Mack’ was not being fed and the dog was skin and bones. When Officer Nutt gave Macky some kibble to eat, the poor dog wolfed it down and immediately vomited everything back up.
Officer Nutt is not a fan of pit bulls, but this one, Macky ‘Mack’, has turned the chief around. “There is something very special about this dog. I don’t know what it is exactly, but something about his eyes just bond with you,” said Officer Nutt about Mack.
Macky ‘Mack’ is currently living at the Log Cabin Police Department. The city doesn’t have an animal control, persay, so this situation is very temporary. If something doesn’t happen quickly, Macky “Mack’ will have to go to a shelter. All of the nearby shelters are full and Macky “Mack’ will most likely be put to sleep.
Macky ‘Mack’ is enjoying his ‘incarceration’ in Log Cabin. He’s run off leash for the first time in his life. “He’d run about 10 feet and stop. Wouldn’t go any further. We finally figured out that he’s never been out farther than the 10 foot chain he was on,” said Nutt. “ Boy, once he figured out he was off that chain, he just let loose. It was a wonderful thing to watch. This dog is really something special.”
It’s Christmas and for many animals in the nation, a sad time. The shelters are full to capacity and euthanizing is at an all time high.
Something special is happening in Log Cabin. One war weary policeman who’s seen it all has been won over by a pit bull. A pit bull who’s never had one good day has found his first friend.
