Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre will throw open its doors to the public next week for its annual Open Day in honor of Brian Epstein’s Birthday, the theater announced Sept. 11. The 2013 Open Day,which takes place on Sept. 19, coincides with the theater's 100th anniversary.
The event, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will features a birthday tea to benefit Macmillan Cancer Research. Coffee and tea will be available for a small donation. Visitors are also encouraged to bring cakes and a special prize will awarded for the best one. In 2012, hundreds of people from all over Liverpool and beyond attended on the day and the theater says they are expecting an even better turn out this year.
Joe Flannery, lifelong friend of Brian Epstein and author of "Standing in the Wings – The Beatles, Brian Epstein and Me," will be in attendance throughout the day and sign copies of his book. Musical performances from live bands representing the musical influences that Epstein managed will also be featured.
