Actress Lindsay Lohan has come forth to explain the reason behind her absence from attending “The Canyons” film premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on August 30, 2013.
Lindsay was a “no-show” on the red carpet on Friday at the Palazzo Del Cinema where her costars Nolan Gerard Funk, Tenille Houston, James Deen, director Paul Schrader and screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis were all present.
Lohan made an entry on her website entitled “About Venice,” complete with photo, that was captioned “To Venice, with love” explaining “Along with the positive messages and words of support of “The Canyons” at VFF, I am sending my own to the cast, producers and the amazing Paul Schrader. I am so grateful for the extraordinary experience of being a part of this film.”
“Unfortunately, I have to clear up these reports. I was never confirmed to attend. Of course, I would have enjoyed returning to that wonderful city and being a part of this amazing event, but my focus is on my health and well-being. Plain and simple, it is of the utmost importance.” Lohan continued.
Lindsay, 27, just completed her court-ordered rehab at the end of July and has been pretty much keeping a very low profile.
Director Paul Schrader, who is also on the jury of the festival's Horizons section, held a news conference on Friday to speak about his film and stated that Lohan's personal issues were “off the table.”
Even though Lindsay was not confirmed to attend, festival officials said that they expected her arrival ahead of time on Thursday along with the rest of the Canyons cast.
Actress Tenille Houston had to make up for the wow factor on the red carpet all by herself and she held her own in a lovely grey tulle strapless gown festooned with white flowers. James Deen’s girlfriend Stoya also looked quite glamorous in her sleek black gown.
For the photocall on August 30, Tenille Houston donned an unusual celestial print sleeveless mini and retro style pointed black pumps. In the photos, you could see that the rest of the crew were disappointed that Lindsay did not show…
