Former Senator Lincoln Chafee
Speaking at a church in Barrington, Rhode Island, Lincoln Chafee said he is “very, very interested” in running for Governor, and that it all depends on how much money he can raise.
The former Senator told The Providence Journal he would welcome the challenges of the position.
Chafee was appointed back in 1999 to the Senate seat of his late father, and was reelected in 2000. He lost the seat in 2006 to Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse. Soon after he left the Republican party to become an independent. Chafee didn't say what party he would run under if he seeked the Governor's seat.
Chafee currently works under a teaching fellowship for political science at Brown University.
