On the Sept. 16th broadcast of its Faith & Freedom Radio program, Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver and Matt Barber accused the Obama administration of discriminating against Christians because of its “pagan worldview.”
“This Obama administration and the philosophy, the worldview that he represents,” said Barber, “…is a pagan worldview.”
Comparing its alleged hostility to Christianity to that of the pagan Roman Empire, Barber went on to say, “the Obama administration says you must worship Caesar. They don’t go by the tag ‘pagan.’ They have a new euphemism for that that’s called ‘progressive.’ That’s the word they use, but it’s the same thing; it's pagan sexual morality. It's a pagan view of the world that is a secularist view of the world that is inherently hostile toward not just any religion but particularly Christianity.”
The remarks came after a discussion about the Alabama Air National Guard’s alleged denial of tours to Christian youth groups, an allegation that neither RightWingWatch (the source of some of this story’s links) nor this reporter (using search engines) could find any substantive evidence for.
Liberty Counsel is a conservative Christian non-profit law firm that defends “Christian religious liberty, the sanctity of human life, and the traditional family.” It is associated with Rev. Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University and Falwell Ministries. Mat Staver and Matt Barber are its president and vice-president, respectively.
