Liberal think tank says President can use military to push progressive agenda

A report released by the Center for American Progress advises the President to use whatever executive powers he has, including his power as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to push his radical left wing agenda, despite GOP control of the House.

The report says, in part:

The U.S. Constitution and the laws of our nation grant the president significant authority to make and implement policy. These authorities can be used to ensure positive progress on many of the key issues facing the country through:

  • Executive orders
  • Rulemaking
  • Agency management
  • Convening and creating public-private partnerships
  • Commanding the armed forces
  • Diplomacy

John Podesta, Chief of Staff for former President Bill Clinton, noted that with Republican victories in the House, gridlock could set in and the President would have a difficult time pushing his legislative priorities.  He recommended using his power as President to bypass the House, and the American people.

According to an article at The Daily Caller, Podesta said:

“I think most of the conversation since the election has been about how President Obama adjusts to the new situation on Capitol Hill,” Podesta said. “While that’s an important conversation, it simply ignores the president’s ability to use all levels of his power and authority to move the country forward.”

The report lists several things the President should do.  Among those are: "Convene and engage hunters and anglers in the development of a fish and wildlife climate adaptation plan"; and, "Generate solar energy on U.S. Air Force hangar roofs".

The group also recommended a virtual statistal collection agency which would, in part, "collect data on lesbian ,gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans in federal data surveys."

Why would the government need this information?

In addition, the report says the President can "use executive branch authority to mitigate the impact of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy if Congress does not repeal it."

But the group did not explain how, exactly, the President would use the military to advance his agenda.

Requests for additional information from the progressive organization went unanswered.

It sounds like their leader is Fidel Castro

Liberals like Podesta think they're offering a plausible reason for bypassing the will of American citizens by saying their agenda "moves the country forward," when in reality their agenda moves the country downward.
