The World premiere of Leveling Up currently at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park February 9-March 10. This is a original production by Deborah Zoe Lauder under the Direction of Wendy C. Goldberg. This live performance is refreshing, highly creative, and an inspiring drama.
The story is of four friends in their in 20’s struggling to face the challenges of life in the real world, transitioning from college to getting jobs or starting their careers. They have been shielded from harsh choices of life by escaping into the virtual world of gaming, social networking, online relationships. They are now learning that all actions have consequences some of which they will not like. All true relationships with other people involve feelings, caring about each other and understanding each others needs and wants.
The cast of Leveling Up are all highly talented and their performances given are highly believable, and realistic. All four cast members are making a debut in the Playhouse with this premiere.
Sean Melott is outstanding in his role as Ian. A expert gamer who is hard working, however has issues with developing real life relationships and prefers the virtual world of gamers. Life turns interesting for him with new job at National Security Agency. He eventually discovers that real life might be better then virtual however life also has harsh lessons.
Ben Morrow plays a convincing role as Zander. He uses his attractive looks to con others to follow him so he get what he wants no matter what it costs them. He has dreams of success and the life style of the rich and jet setters. He even has attractive girlfriend Jeannie.
Bobby Moreno also is highly convincing in his the role of Chuck a skillful gamer but loveable slacker. He is unsure of the direction of his life, but has a major crush on Jeannie and seeks to find a connection with her by coaching her on gaming.
Ali Rose Dahis as Jeannie very remarkable, diverse and passionate, in this role as college student she is determined to get degree and make a different in people’s lives. She is the under appreciated girlfriend of Zander. She seeks get to know Chuck and Ian more and explore friendships on more social level in real world and not just only as fellow gamers.
The show is performed in Thompson Shelterhouse Theater that will give you a feeling of intimacy make you feel like you have your own private view of the lives going on. Leveling Up is a entertaining performance that will leave you with a warm feeling.
