January 19, 2012 –Breaking news for fans of John Lennon’s solo work. A new website has been launched by author Chip Madinger, devoted to his upcoming 4-book project called LENNONOLOGY .
Volumes 1 and 2 are scheduled for Fall of 2012, and Chip projects that Volumes 3 and 4 will be probably follow a year later in the Fall of 2013.Th e set will cover every aspect of Lennon’s solo life, from live performances and interviews, the details of his recording sessions, and John and Yoko’s independent films and home recordings. Chip told us, “I’ve been working on this project since 2004.”
The 4-volume set consists of the following:
Strange Days Indeed – chronicles Lennon’s work from 1968-1980 using “contemporary documentation and interviews” Co-authored with Scott Raile.
Unfinished Music and Life With the Lennons – using the Lennon’s home recordings and films, the creative aspect of John and Yoko’s work is explored; Includes the Lennons’ art films and promo clips, as well as documentaries produced independently.
Third volume (so far untitled) –documents John and Yoko’s musical legacy on a session by session basis.
Radio Play and Live Peace – provides a complete record of Lennon’s live performances, including radio and television.
As Chip says, “The LENNONOLOGY series is going to cover John and Yoko's recording sessions with a level of detail to satisfy even the most ardent fan/collector...”
Chip Madinger’s reputation as a detailed chronicler of the Beatles solo work precedes him well. Eight Arms To Hold You was co-authored with Mark Easter in 2000. At over 700 encyclopedic pages, it is an in-depth look at every aspect of the Beatles solo careers including albums, tours, TV appearances, and unreleased tracks and boots.
He also co-authored the 1996 book, The 910’s Guide to the Solo Beatles Outtakes with The 910’s Doug Sulpy. Sulpy issued 8 books between 1996-2006 under the title of 910’s Guide to the Beatles Outtakes, each with new material.
