Leak raving? It sounds like some kind of plumber’s convention to me. Leave (or should I say leaf?) it to a clever Vermont innkeeper to turn a “spoonerism” into a wonderful lodging package that shouldn’t be missed. The West Hill House B&B in Warren, VT is recruiting leaf rakers, and the innkeepers here are anxious to offer those willing to take rake in hand a handsome discount on late fall getaways.
Leak Raving is the tongue in cheek (more like tongue twister!) name given to the West Hill House owners’ greatest challenge- picking up all the fallen leaves after peak foliage season. Come when the foliage crowds have waned, and be sure to pack your work gloves. Stay two or more nights between October 19-November 4 and take 50% off for each day you rake leaves for three or more hours. Best of all, there’s a weather guarantee: sign up for the package and if the weather does not permit raking during your stay you still get 25% off for your good intentions.
Post October 19 getaways are the perfect time to enjoy crisp Vermont days and nights, filled with biking, hiking and oh yes, plenty of leaves on the ground for raking, piling and crunching.
INNside Scoop: There is one caveat: there are only so many leaves to be raked, so no more than three of the Leak Raving packages will be sold. Rakes provided. Book online or call soon to reserve yours.
