Las Vegas ranks second on Top 2013 Summer Hot Spots list from travel agents

Las Vegas ranked second behind number one Orlando on the annual American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) top 2013 summer domestic U.S. travel destinations survey. The 2013 Hot Spots for Summer survey was recently released by ASTA, the largest network of travel agents, travel suppliers, and travel-related companies. Las Vegas and Orlando have remained the top two most popular summer destinations booked by ASTA travel agents for eleven consecutive years.

The Top Ten Domestic US Summer Destination cities (in order) from the survey were...

1. Orlando
2. Las Vegas
3. San Francisco
4. Los Angeles
5. Miami
6. New York City
7. Honolulu
8. San Diego
9. Seattle
10. Washington DC

Orlando and Las Vegas have undergone decreased market share relative to other cities between 2007 and 2013, but their 2013 market shares (18% for Orlando & 15% for Las Vegas) still greatly exceeded this year's market shares of other single cities. San Francisco, Miami, and Los Angeles have all seen their market shares increase between 2007 and 2013.

The Top Five Domestic States from the survey were...

1. Florida
2. California
3. Nevada
4. New York
5. Hawaii

Nevada ranked second on this ASTA state survey last year, but was displaced by California in this year's ranking.
