Just moments after the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Boston Celtics at Staples Center on June 17, thousands of fans took to the streets in what began as a celebration. Purple and gold could be seen far down the streets of Downtown Los Angeles as fans flooded out of L.A. Live and Staples Center. In pure joy fans threw each other high fives, chanted "LAKERS" and "We are the champions." With all the hype the celebration did turn violent and wild as the thousands took over the Los Angeles streets to turn them into riots. The Laker parade will take place Monday at 11:00am, where there are hopes of a much less violent and much more joyous recognition of the NBA Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.
The corner of Olympic and Figueroa was filled with both fans and police standing guard.
A Boston Celtics jersey caused some havoc as Laker fans stomped on the bright green jersey.
The Los Angeles Poilce department was a large presence as they aimed to keep the celebrations safe.
The mobs of fans united on street corners wearing proudly their #24 Kobe Bryant jerseys. Check out the slideshow below for plenty more photos of that night.
