Phil Jackson is a popular man in the NBA right now. On March 12, New York Daily News reported that Jackson is in talks for a deal with the New York Knicks, but those involved with Los Angeles Lakers are not ready to give up on Jackson yet. Magic Johnson went to his Twitter on Wednesday to comment on the latest news about Jackson. He tweeted the following:

I love Jim & Jeanie Buss, but we need Phil Jackson to be the face of our great organization, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Phil Jackson definitely has a deal on the table with the New York Knicks though, and it might be a difficult deal to ignore. The contract would pay him $15 million annually, and that is not a small number. Him joining the New York Knicks organization would put him as their president.

It would make things at home interesting at home for Jackson though. Jeanie Buss is the head of the Los Angeles Lakers organization at the moment, and she is engaged to Phil Jackson. Phil and Jeanie share a home in Playa del Ray together. The rivalry between the Knicks and Lakers is known in the NBA, and this rivalry would be lived out under one roof. Jeanie did tease that she knows where Jackson is going, but she didn't reveal the answer. She was wearing a New York Knicks sweatshirt though. It is 'his decision' at the end of the day.

The Lakers would like Jackson back. Kobe Bryant even made that clear during a press conference held on Wednesday. He is out for the rest of the season due to injury. He spoke about Jackson's potential contract with the Knicks, and he just doesn't 'get it.'

An official announcement of Jackson's future has still not been made, but fans will find out more as the drama unfolds. A press conference is said to be set for March 19. What do you think? Will Jackson head to the New York Knicks? Or will he return to the Los Angeles Lakers?
