Kevin Garnett's rants made Carmelo Anthony so mad during a Monday night game between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks that he went to find him after the game ended. According to USA Today on Tuesday, Jan. 8 Carmelo Anthony felt Kevin Garnett crossed the line and said things to him that should never be said to another man.
"There's certain things that you just don't say to men, another man," Anthony said. "I felt like we crossed a line, but like I said, we both had an understanding right now, we handled it the way we handled it. Nobody needs to know what was said behind closed doors, so that situation was handled."
Carmelo Anthony eventually tried to track down Kevin Garnett at his team bus to confront him about what he said during the game. However, security was able to keep them apart and stop the meeting from taking place.
According to reports by Radar Online the confrontation was a result of Kevin Garnett taunting Carmelo Anthony about his wife Lala. Carmelo Anthony felt Kevin Garnett was disrespecting his wife and went after him to let him know.
Celtics player Garnett is alleged to have told New York Knick Anthony that his wife of two years “tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios” during the Knicks-Celtics game.
Previously there was speculation that someone would be fined or suspended behind the altercation between Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett. However, Carmelo Anthony maintains that nothing has taken place that should cause him to be suspended.
"Nothing happened for me to be suspended," he said. "I wanted to talk to KG. I think it was something we both needed to get off our chest and see what really the problem was. No altercations, it was just some words and a conversation that we needed to have."
If the alleged reports are true and Kevin Garnett actually taunted Carmelo Anthony about his wife most people feel he deserved to be confronted. There are indeed certain things that should be left off limits even in basketball. Number one on that list is someone's wife or significant other.
Referring to Carmelo Anthony's wife as “tasting like Honey Nut Cheerios” was done in poor taste and it may be difficult if not impossible for him to brush aside.
