Sunday night, actress Kerry Washington hosted Saturday Night Live (SNL) and played numerous black women because of the lack of black women on the show. The news has created an Internet buzz Sunday morning as people around the country attempt to see the video clips from the popular NBC show SNL.
SNL poked fun at the fact that they lacked black women on their cast with a statement in the opening scene. Kerry Washington is the star of Scandal and she took on the roles of Michelle Obama, Oprah, Beyoncé and a Uganda beauty pageant during her time as host of the popular show Saturday night.
During the opening scene of the SNL show, while Kerry Washington was changing clothes from the Michelle Obama character to Oprah, these words scrolled on the screen:
“The producers of SNL would like to apologize for the number of black women Kerry Washington will be asked to play tonight... We made these requests because SNL does not currently have a black woman in the cast…”
