Just like she kept her marriage a secret for a while, Kerry Washington has also been keeping another big one from the public. The "Scandal" star is reportedly pregnant with her first child.
Washington and her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, will soon be parents, a source confirmed to People magazine, with a baby due in the spring. "Kerry and Nnamdi are ecstatic," the source added.
Apparently, Washington was planning on keeping the pregnancy a secret for even longer. But, with her upcoming Saturday Night Live skit this weekend, she knew people would notice her small bump so she wanted to avoid that being "the focus" of her appearance.
The very reserved actress does not like to talk about her private affairs and her rep has repeatedly told the media that "we do not comment on [Washington's] personal life." When she married Asomugha this past June, no one even knew she had been secretly dating him for months.
In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Washington explained why she keeps everything so private and revealed she realized talking about her personal issues just didn't work out for her.
"I've had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it," she said. "But I couldn't just turn around and say, 'I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.' So I just thought, 'Okay, no more.'"
But, Washington also admitted that she really does like to talk about big events in her life. "I hate keeping secrets; that is the worst thing for me, because I always want to talk about it," she told E! News. However, she also reiterated her need to be private about her personal life.
Washington is best known for her role as Olivia Pope on the hit ABC drama, where her character also does a great job at keeping secrets.
