Kentucky man arrested for allowing two dogs to starve to death

Police in Louisville, Ky., arrested Delvon Smith, 23, on Saturday for charges stemming from the death of his two dogs.

According to Monday's WDRB News, the 23-year-old man is charged with with two counts of torturing a dog, resulting in serious physical injury or death, for the death of his pit bulls who died of apparent starvation and hypothermia.

The dogs were discovered in early February after authorities received an anonymous tip that dogs at the home were dead.

After obtaining a search warrant, authorities visited Smith's residence where they discovered two dogs who were "chained and frozen dead inside their dog houses."

Smith allegedly admitted that he failed to provide anything other than plastic dog houses.

The dogs who died were left to suffer in the winter temperatures without any type of bedding or respite from the cold.
